About

Heather Walker
Silk Artist

I learned the art of silk painting many years ago in London Ontario, when working at The University of Western Ontario, and originally painted scarves for my own pleasure and as gifts for friends and family. I am now creating silk art on a full time basis and feel so lucky to be able to do what I love and have my own studio and craft shop..

I am fortunate to live in Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, the land of the red soil and the magical home of Anne of Green Gables.  From childhood I was able to observe, enjoy and travel throughout this beautiful province.  I use the striking images of its rolling hills and farmland, fishing villages and sandy beaches, as inspiration for my designs and colour combinations.

I have had the privilege to study under internationally recognized silk artist, Daniel Jean-Baptiste, who resides and works out of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean and Markham, Ontario. You will see his influence in my Island landscapes, where his “Shimmering Light Water Technique” combines with my own painting style to create the illusion of light and movement.
